Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is essential for those who want to live a higher quality life.
Even though, there is still no universally accepted definition of the word “wellness”, the World Health Organization’s definition of “health” seems to be the best, internationally recognized description that captures the broad meanings of wellness.
This definition – adopted by the WHO in 1948 – was significant in the fact that it went beyond just the physical state of freedom from disease and emphasized a positive state of being that includes mental and social dimensions.
“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” ~Preamble to the Constitution of the WHO.
Among the largely agreed on characteristics of the concept:

The introduction of this new dimension is rather new and not all sources consider it an independent dimension. Financial Wellness is about how to successfully managing financial expenses and financial stress so that it brings us less impact on our health and maximum results in our activities. Keeping up with financial responsibilities can quickly become overwhelming, but ignoring them will only increase feelings of stress, anxiety, and fear. All the other dimensions of wellness are in way connected to financial wellness.

Intellectual wellness is about learning, engaging mentally-stimulating activities and I dare say about wisdom. other dimensions, at some level this particular one gets inside the fabric of all the others. It leads to expanded knowledge and skills and the possibility of sharing. Having an optimal level of intellectual wellness inspires curiosity and exploration which turns into development.

This is one of the dimensions which is also rather new and it is not found in all wellness dimensions classifications but we believe it is important as work is an important part of our lives. Occupational wellness recognizes the importance of satisfaction, enrichment and meaning through work. It is very important to be involved in activities that are gratifying for you and also to identify workplace stress in order to practice conflict management. Conflict management is key to achieving an optimal level of occupational wellness.

This particular dimension is so well-known that it is impossible to write anything new about it. It is by mistake, considered the entire wellness concept. Physical wellness is about taking care of our bodies for optimal health and functioning.
